“he happens to be []..”

20 January 2009 at 8:34 pm (announce)

I showed my 5yr old son a photo of President Barack Obama in Time Magazine’s Man of the Year edition and asked him, “what’s the first thing you noticed about this man when you saw his photo, what was the very first thing that came to your mind?”

He replied, “he’s wearing a tie.”

God bless 5 year olds.  God bless Barack Obama, and God bless America.

What a great day today was.

Wow, it’s been a while

6 January 2009 at 10:44 pm (ocd)

But I am posting.  I have nothing to say, but I feel like if I don’t post now I will never post again.  So it’s a self-intervention.  I’ve had several moments where I thought of something interesting to post but I’ve forgotten them all, of course.  Like walking into a room with a fantastic intention to do something, cashing in on the satisfaction of the future completion of a nagging task, and then forgetting what you intended to do.

I was telling Collins today that I’ve reached a sad, sad point in my life where browsing retail and online electronic stores brings absolutely no consumer-joy to my life.  I never thought that would happen.

I want a really, really good book right now.  And some time to fly my r/c planes.

Oh, I take it back.  I do want to buy a snowboard and learn to snowsurf.  My lifelong, pointless grudge is over.  Snowboarders won, they are everywhere, and my hate for them has amounted to nothing.  To thicken the irony my own, dear son wants to learn how to snowboard and that officially makes me an old-fashioned skiing curmudgeon.

Anyway.  Here I am, blogging.  Is anyone out there?
